Artist of the Month: Nick Gentry

Wow. WOW. wOw.
Amazing. Brilliant.
Insane with tallent.
Nick Gentry is an artist I'm going to be following and obsessing about for a long time. I feel it my bones, this artist is one to watch out for! I have a bunch of art websites I browse through a few times a month for unique and funky art to drool over and share on here and thanks to a great website called:
recyclart.org
I've made my own discovery of his work. It's completely unique and his pieces have a dark and dramtic feel to them while still looking comerical. I feel it has a kind of graffiti inspired grunge/working class/fantasy vibe about it.
He's so talented I'm more than a little bit jelaous!
If you check out his flickr web page you can see lots more of his artwork that will most likely cause your heart to skip a beat!
If you click the link below it will lead you to the Adam Lister Gallery website where you can get more details on where to attend a group exhibition he is part of up untill September 5th.

Artist of the Month: Anders Krisar

I'm typically drawn to art that has a lot of color and abstract qualities but I like what I like and it all doesn't fit into categories or traditional mediums. Which is why I have to pick Anders Krisar out of a few other artist I've discovered this month because it's so different. Idk what the concept or ideas behind these pieces are but when I think about it myself I've come up with a few theories on the message behind them. What makes us who we are? Is it our skin? Is it what we do, or whats done to us? Is it our scars or our fears... What holds us together? Krisar's work is focused on parts of the human body but even as realistic as his sculptures are it's not the part that lingers with you. It's not the form of the object... the body parts. It's that everything is a part of us... the pieces that hold us together and things or people that try to tare us apart aren't usually visible when you look at someone those things take shape on the inside. I wonder what we all would look like if we had our own body sculpture pieces to show those things that have made us who we are...

My Favorite Artist: Joshua Petker

I love all kinds of art and am amazed and intimidated by the hundreds of artist I've discovered that are so lovely and creative. Out of them all Joshua Petker remains my favorite! Something about the way the emotionally charged colors and realistic female portraits come off realistically abstract, just has won me over time and time again. He got such a unique style. Each piece is haunting and mesmerizing. I've mentioned him before and I'll mention him again, cause Joshua Petker is freaking awesome!
