Really? Why You Gotta Try So Hard?

Why? Why? Why? Why are they trying so hard? Real life is provocative, and the Skins UK show and at least with the first two seasons it was so good because it was so real. It wasn't trying so hard to be edgy and provocative. An the more I read about and see the MTV promotion for the US version the more turned off of it I get. This show will never live up to the original. So why do they think that instead of doing an original American spin on it and trying to make a good show it's better to just be raunchy and cheap and focus on the party side of the characters and not the real depth of the characters? Fucking American television! This last pic isn't so bad and I like the black and white style photos better then the ripped off look of the top photo from shoots with the second generation cast of girls!

4.3.2.1...

I just saw the trailer for 4.3.2.1 by Noel Clark and I'm so excited! I can't wait to see this movie. I LOVED Kidulthood and really liked Adulthood the sequel. The movies are all London, UK based and filmed and aside from being a really gritty and amazing director, Noel Clark is also a really great actor! He always plays a part in his movies and this one is no exception. The new movie 4.3.2.1 is about 4 girls with 3 days running around 2 cities with 1 chance... to either steal some diamonds or return them! It stars a pretty gnarly cast a lot of which have been in Clark's previous movies as well as Emma Roberts who has the best scene in the whole trailer at the end!The trailer reminds me why I love everything from the UK! It reminds me of Skins and Shameless more in dialog and just over all vibe and the storyline and characters remind me of a seriously underrated movie called GO. I hate having to wait for movies lol but this is one movie that's sure to be worth it!

Heartbreak In 8 Episodes Or Less

Well my stupid computer won't let me upload any photos right now so I'll have to come back and edit this later. I have to do this now though. I just watched the last episode of Skins season 4. I woke up at noon and between then and now I've spent a good 5 hours and 20 minutes sitting on my bum at the computer watching the entire season! It's an addicting show. An wow. wow. wow.
SPOILER alert... I had read some things online about this season and while some were true others are not. I really felt this season was tighter and more together than the last. All the characters had good story lines that weaved in and out of each other nicely. Last year it got a bit choppy. I love the Emily and Naomi love story and this season they were on the outs. A lot. In the last episode when Naomi spills her heart out to Emily It was so real and I'm sure most people have felt and done things that couldn't have been explained any better than in her characters words! So they pull through and honestly if they didn't the show writers would have a riot on their hands cause of all the fans rooting for them. On to Effy... In the first two seasons she was my favorite character so illusive and mysterious and disconnected, I loved her. In season 3 they cracked her open and gave her more life... life that I felt was better left undiscovered. This season it's a bit of both worlds. She goes mental which I found surprising cause she's always so within herself. It was believable though and I liked how Freddie tied into it all. I've never been a Freddie fan he's just a bit to robotic. Seeing him care for Effy made him so much more endearing and human. I knew that doctor was no good! I was shocked when he murdered Freddie. I cried. Tears. For a TV show! They filmed it brilliantly. The blood on the glass and the sounds... much more tormenting that seeing it happen in a way. It was very disturbing. The darkest skins has ever gone. The chemistry was off without him at the last party and you got a sense of "is this it? no one is ever going to know the truth...?" You gotta love Cook though for being as Effy put it "brave" charging his killer like that, and so you know he took care of him. Cook's storyline was loads better this season and I really think Jack O'Connell who plays Cook is the best actor on the show. He has the most cross over potential I think out of all the casts. I also like Katie this season, she was less bitchy and I liked that she stopped being the girl who always had to have a boyfriend. I wanted more Pandora though and I thought her getting into Harvard was a joke but so shall it be. I've read a lot of comments about how the season ended crap and didn't give closure. Here is what I think... It's not the end really, that's the point of how they left it... life goes on. People change but they also stay the same. Bad things happen, some can be fixed others can't. Love is shit and drives you mad but it's worth every ounce of sorrow. An we can all be thankful life really isn't a fucking TV show where writers decide your fate!

Skins Series 4 Behind The Scenes

I've found a crap load of photos of the cast filming and on location for series 4 of skins and a few extra and random shots of the cast hanging out, eating cupcakes and wielding fake (hopefully) guns. I love this show and have come to love the new cast, not as a reflection of the old one which is irreplaceable but in their own right they are all amazing actors that have encompassed some brilliantly written characters. The start of series 4 isn't too far off and while we only get 8 (Ekkk!) episodes, the new trailer proves it's going to be unpredictable, dramatic and lots of fun to watch. I've been hearing lots of spoiler rumors but I think we can all expect the last episode to leave us wanting more. I think someone is going to die, based on the gun clips and blog rumors but I really doubt it's Emily! I just hope Freddie's little sis Karen doesn't take over as the Effy of the 3rd cast and 5th season cause I'm sorry but I can't stand her character!

Fish Tank

Subtle brilliance! I had the pleasure of watching Fish Tank, written and directed by Andrea Arnold, last night and I'm so glad I did. First off British movies are almost always portrayed in a more realistic and almost gritty kind of way. It reflects the way the world really is apposed to the dream reality created for teens and adults in a lot of American movies. I read numerous reviews of the movie before I saw it some said it was too "gritty and depressing" while others saw it as boring and "not dark enough" while I found it fell nicely between the two.
The movie is about a 15 year old girl named Mia, her mom's a young self-obsessed lush more concerned with parties and men than her kids. Mia is bitchy, angry and feels alone, she drinks and dances her pain away in an abandoned flat as her only way of escaping her reality. You start off loathing the two female leads but when Mia comes across an old horse that's sickly and chained near a trailer she softens the tiniest bit and tries to break the chains to set it free. (This is the whole point of the movie in that Mia herself feels like a tortured and chained horse bitter and stuck in a bad situation that just wants to be free or like a fish trapt in a fish tank staring out at a world she can't touch.)
As the movie progresses Mia's mom brings home a new boyfriend and there is instant sexual tension between the two. Her moms new boyfriend serves as a positive influence of sorts at first, encouraging Mia to believe in herself and to pursue her dancing. But when their relationship crosses the line which was inevitable it changes everything and sets Mia off towards a serious emotion breakdown that takes her down an even darker path than what she started out on, but she isn't the monster or bitch that you think.
You start to slowly unwind the characters cores and you see Mia as more than just a pissed off teenager. She's not nearly as tuff on the inside as she is on the outside and she's not a bitch she's just a product of her enviorment. Even the mother you feel for in the end, she's not a good mother by any means but you see her cracking as well and you see a girl, not a mother just a tuff little girl choking and drowning in the reality she created.
The boyfriend Conner played by Michael Fassbender didn't come off as a predator or a creep more like a boy who can't help himself even though he tries, he avoids responsibility and runs from his problems to avoid the consequences. In fact all the grown ups in this movie come off more as lost little kids, while the actual lost kids in the movies are forced to take on grown up roles. I could go on and on about how amazing this movie is. It's beautifully filmed and the acting is nothing like acting it's all incredibly real feeling. The bright shining star of the movie is Katie Jarvis who plays Mia. In her first shot at acting she comes off as an old pro and I hope she has a long acting career ahead of her because I'll never forget her performance in this movie!

For The Love of Skins

Skins if you don't know is not just a wicked nick name for a contraceptive! It also happens to be the best damn show about teenagers on television (My so-called life would be the best no longer on air!) It airs in the UK and I've read that they might air an edited (lame ass) version in the US on ABC or something, don't bother to watch that though as it's likely to mutilate a great hour long program into maybe 30 minutes though some episodes will be cut down to around 10 minutes I imagine once they censor it! I'm ranting so any way... I recommend if your 16-24 years old to watch this show. It's realistic, masochistic, teens at their best and worst! It's highly entertaining and one should start with the first season for obvious reason and also because almost the entire cast gets replaced after the second season and as much as I LOVE the show the third season was not the best, the characters are awesome but the storyline lags in places! So I suggest watch the first two and by then you'll be so addicted and wanting more that the third season will still have you hooked. My favorite characters (of the first two seasons) are Cassie (now you know where I get my lovely and wow from lol) Sid (at first he will repulse and then he will attract you!) and Effy. (Because she's so beautiful and mysterious not to mention screwed up)[like so many of us] The show is one of my obsessions and you'd be lucky for it to become yours! This link is the best montage of the show ever, the douche who made it won't let me embed the code so... Oh and don't let the DJ fool you this video is off the chain! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iWsXkxiyCc

This clip is lovely, mike bailey... I love you... a little bit!
